My name is Robert Jones Sr. and I go by RJ. I’m from Cleveland, OH. I had a very rough beginning and graduated from high school while living on the streets. I served in the US Army and the US Navy (honorably discharged out of both branches). I’ve been a volunteer firefighter, did the community police academy and even became a juvenile corrections officer. I never wanted to see anyone suffering and wanted to help any way that I could.

I started an Inspirational Speaking Company called MindSpirit in the early 2000’s, authored six (6) books that were used to help people to break down barriers that hindered their potential for true success. I’ve held speaking engagements at public schools, alternative schools, colleges, a law firm, churches to the Federal governments welfare to work programs. My company was responsible for producing a 95% success rate for moving the hardest to serve clients on welfare in Tacoma, WA past welfare to gainful employment and continued education.

Due to the economic downturn in 2008, there were no contracts to let and everything that was built was lost in the blink of an eye. Notice of eviction, repossessions, 40+ garbage bags in the garage all led to having to file bankruptcy. This is a great impact to my life and also my credit! And with all of my experience with helping people, I was completely blind here. That bankruptcy showed me exactly what bad credit was and that’s for sure! I filed a Chapter 13 and I remember leaving the attorneys office, went to a park and cried my eyes out. It felt like the end of the world! I watched everyone around me and felt like a complete failure.

But fortunately or unfortunately depending on how one would look at this. It was my wake up call. I came out of that bankruptcy with more knowledge than I ever thought possible. I went to work for auto dealerships and saw exceptional credit scores and scores that I knew a person would need a subprime lender and I would have to build their deal backwards due to the uncertainty of getting them approved. Meanwhile, my credit score went from an abysmal 340 to over 700 over the years. While attempting to help those with some credit issues, I was wishing that I could do more. And that lead me here.

I fully understand that there is no magic wand to wave that will improve credit, But I know that I have given my all in every aspect of my life and seen success in ways that I never imagined. Ripple Effects Credit Consultants has been born from my love, pain, success and failures.
